These products are sold through distributors who service the commercial greenhouse, nursery, small farms and premier golf courses throughout the Mid-Atlantic.

BioSafe Systems is looking for a motivated, A+ level sales professional who desires unlimited earning potential. This position is supported by a team of marketing, technical and business professionals. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Sell entire product line to be used in green industry applications.
  • Create and manage distributor and end user relationships.
  • Keep management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analysis.
  • Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques.
  • Service existing accounts, obtains orders, and establishes new accounts by planning and organizing daily work schedule to call on existing or potential sales outlets and other industry factors.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; preparing reports and making recommendations to management.
  • Develop and grow the commercial relationships of assigned leading green industry customers while prospecting for new accounts to increase market penetration.
  • Manage sales pipeline to drive new business opportunities to commercial success.
  • Forecast sales to enable operations planning, introduce product innovations and maintain active memberships.

BioSafe Systems Hires Director of Food Safety

East Hartford, CT – BioSafe Systems recently hired Kevin Watson, of Yuma, AZ, as Director of Food Safety for our agriculture market segment. With decades of experience in post-harvest/food safety, Kevin will be assisting growers and processors with sanitation issues and food safety plans from field to fork.

Kevin has 30 years’ experience in agriculture, is a certified ISO 9000 Lead Auditor, FMS, PSA certified and an active member of the LGMA technical sub-committee and the Yuma Safe Produce Council. Prior to BioSafe, Kevin worked as the Raw Product Food Safety Manager for Fresh Express for 13 years. In that role, he managed a nationwide food safety team, as well as food safety operations in Mexico. During his time at Fresh Express, Kevin organized and carried out food safety symposiums, as well as training events with industry influencers, FDA and food safety professionals.

Kevin also has experience working for the USDA, both at the state and federal level. In this position, Kevin managed the first food safety pilot project in Sinaloa, Mexico and helped develop the first USDA food safety audit metric. Kevin says, “In my previous roles, I have been able to meet shippers, producers, governors and the president of Mexico to address issues related to food safety. In my new venture with BioSafe Systems, I feel I will be able to help resolve sanitation issues and make a difference in all food production.”

Outside of his professional food safety experience, Kevin has worked in field agriculture. BioSafe Systems’ California Area Manager, Jay Sughroue Ph.D., is excited to have Kevin join the team due to his “unique experience with on-the-farm, packing house and processing experience. His skill sets fit in well with our field-to-fork structure at BioSafe. Kevin will be able to add valuable input regarding food safety to growers and processors in all stages of the production process.”

BioSafe Adds New Horticulture Technical Representative in Texas Area

East Hartford, CT – BioSafe Systems has recently expanded its horticulture team with the addition of Clint Medlen. Clint joins BioSafe as the T&O and Horticulture Technical Representative for Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. Born and raised in Texas, Clint currently lives in Dallas.

A graduate of Texas A&M University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Clint holds a BS in agricultural development. His most recent work has been as an account manager for high-end residential landscape services at Southern Botanical. His strong background in turf grass management and integrated pest management will make him a true asset to the BioSafe team.

When asked about why he was drawn to BioSafe Systems, Clint says, “I have always wanted a career relating to agricultural chemicals and integrated pest management. I believe proper chemical and cultural practices can lead to a higher efficiency in the turf and ornamental industry and make us the leading company. I look forward to a long career here at BioSafe Systems.” When not working, Clint enjoys traveling, spending time with family, reading and experiencing the simpler things in life.

BioSafe Adds Business Development Manager for Field Crops

East Hartford, CT—BioSafe Systems would like to announce a recent addition to its agriculture team, Kurt Schwartau. Kurt joins BioSafe as the North American Business Development Manager for Field Crops with a focus on the Rockies and Plains regions. A native of Minnesota, Kurt is based in Evergreen, CO, where he lives with his wife, Lynne.

A graduate of the University of Minnesota College of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Kurt has extensive business experience in many segments and functions of crop protection and pest control, both in the United States and globally. His focus has been on developing markets and customers channels for novel, EPA-registered, microbial insect and disease control brands. He was most recently Head of Marketing and Sales at Phyllom BioProducts. He also previously worked at SipcamAdvan, AgraQuest (Bayer Biologics) and ISK Biosciences.

When not working or spending time with his wife and children, Kurt serves his community on the Timber Estates Metropolitan Tax District Board. In his free time, he enjoys skiing, mountain biking and watching college football.
